BORN IN THE DIRT
Contractors are a special breed. You live your work and expect the equipment you buy to work harder than you do. That’s what makes the 220TS4 unique – it was built by engineers and skilled craftsman who have spent their lives working in the dirt searching for solutions to allow you to Do More.
Features may include:
Hitch System:
By running your tractors drawbar pin horizontally thru the hitch’s two ears, your scraper can be mounted closer to the tractors rear axle, which helps keep the front of MFWD tractor weighed down. The drawbars vertical pin is mounted 22” behind the horizontal drawbar pin, which provides you with a superior turning radius.
Over engineered with higher strength material and additional support gussets. Heavy steel bulk head and ridged hose stand keep hydraulic lines safe and secure.
Front Section:
Vertically mounted 5.5" x 20" friction welded trunnion mount cylinders with a nitrobar rod are attached directly over the blade set. These cylinders are mounted in a nearly vertical position so that when the operator retracts the cylinder one inch, the blade moves one inch. This enables you to maintain greater control of engine RPMs and ground speed. By moving faster the dirt continues to “boil,” developing bigger and quicker loads.
Ashland utilizes a thick walled 16” round front section pipe for the 220TS4. A standard hydraulic accumulator provides a smoother ride by absorbing shock loads while transporting fully loaded scrapers. This adds protection for both the scraper and the tractor without the need for any additional plumbing.
The Pole is box built with an internal skeleton vs. formed halves to increase rigidity. The tapered trailing arm has excellent depth of frame near the front pipe to reduce failure at the corners. And with an elevated Front Section pipe, operators can take advantage of unmatched visibility and greater clearance while loading piles or in areas with heavy debris such as tall grass or brush.
Front Pipe:
Round structures, such as the heavy wall pipe that Ashland uses in its Front Section, handle torsional loads (twisting loads) much better than square or rectangle tubing. With rounded pipe, the stress of your load is displaced around the entire circumference of the structure — with any other style, stress is amplified in the corners and seams. Concentrated stress can cause the tubing to fail in these areas, making our Front Section pipe a superior design.
Apron:
The 220TS4 scraper has a spacious front opening for material to easily fall forward and be leveled out by the blade while ejecting. Uses big 5” x 13” friction welded hydraulic cylinders for maximum clamping force. The side of Ashland Aprons have close tolerance to the Bowls sidewalls — this tight fit ensures that debris won’t bend the Apron inward as the ejector moves forward.
Bowl:
The 220TS4 has a 22 cu. yd. heaped capacity and a 16 cu. yd. struck capacity, with a dual plated floor system. This system consists of two heavy plates that support both the top and bottom edges of the moldboard, ensuring that the floor will remain straight and strong when coming in contact with large objects such as stumps or rocks.
The scraper incorporates a five piece blade set secured with grade eight bolts and nuts. The protruding center blade extends longer than the neighboring corner blades to bite into material.
